To understand what Reverse Osmosis is, it helps to understand Osmosis. Osmosis is a naturally occurring process, where a weaker saline solution – fresh water – migrates towards a stronger solution – salt water.
Reverse Osmosis reverses this process. It is a purification technology for water containing dissolved impurities. The water is pushed under high pressure, and as a result, ions, molecules, bacteria and larger particles are removed, leaving pure drinking water.
